The readers have been perusing several of the messages from different experts on pension issues pertaining to State Bank of India and this time it is Ramchandra Upadhyaya who himself served the Bank as a senior executive in the know of all nuts and bolt of the Bank’s administrative mechanism. He has continuously been throwing his weight striving hard to procure some fruitful outcome in tangible terms in the matter of pension issues. He has regularly been addressing necessary communications to the higher governmental quarters including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We are thankful to him for the Herculean efforts he has all along been making. One such communication, as forwarded to us, is reproduced below for the perusal of pensioners and all the readers. Importantly, the readers must go through the attachment to this post given in the bottom of it which contains weighted most contents advocating the cause of pensioners.
I attach a letter under Public Grievance, addressed to the Honourable Prime Minister, Sri.Narendra Modiji.
As can be seen from the contents of the first paragraph of the letter, this is the third letter addressed to the Honourable Prime Minister. I wish to mention that my earlier letters were forwarded by PMO to the MOF, who had in, turn, sent the letters for disposal at the level of SBI. I am sorry to say that the letters were not properly disposed of as the illegal action initiated by the Bank was at the behest of MOF. More than 32,000 senior pensioners of SBI have been receiving ex-gratia or ad hoc payment in lieu of pension which is roughly 50% of what would be their quantum of pension. Due to the fall in value of rupee, the quantum of pension received by the pensioners is hardly sufficient to meet their essential requirements. We the pensioners feel that unless the honourable Prime Minister looks into our genuine problems, we may not get justice during our life time. Most of the pensioners are on the wrong side of 70 years and so urgent attention to solve our problems is needed.
We shall therefore be grateful to you if you will bring our letter to the notice of the honourable Prime minister under the PRAGATI platform.
Looking forward to your assistance in the matter which affects the lives of the pensioners.
With kind regards,
