The readers have been perusing several of the messages from different experts on pension issues pertaining to State Bank of India and this time it is Ramchandra Upadhyaya who himself served the Bank as a senior executive in the know of all nuts and bolt of the Bank’s administrative mechanism. He has continuously been throwing his weight striving hard to procure some fruitful outcome in tangible terms in the matter of pension issues. He has regularly been addressing necessary communications to the higher governmental quarters including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We are thankful to him for the Herculean efforts he has all along been making. One such communication, as forwarded to us, is reproduced below for the perusal of pensioners and all the readers. Importantly, the readers must go through the attachment to this post given in the bottom of it which contains weighted most contents advocating the cause of pensioners.

    Dear  Sri.A.K.Sharma,

I attach a letter under Public Grievance, addressed to the Honourable Prime Minister, Sri.Narendra Modiji.

As can be seen from the contents of the first paragraph of the letter, this is the third letter addressed to the Honourable Prime Minister. I wish to mention that my earlier letters were forwarded by PMO to the MOF, who had in, turn, sent the letters for disposal at the level of SBI. I am sorry to say that the letters were not properly disposed of as the illegal action initiated by the Bank was at the behest of MOF. More than 32,000 senior pensioners of SBI have been receiving ex-gratia or ad hoc payment in lieu of pension which is roughly 50% of what would be their quantum of pension. Due to the fall in value of rupee, the quantum of pension received by the pensioners is hardly sufficient to meet their essential requirements. We the pensioners feel that unless the  honourable Prime Minister looks into our genuine problems, we may not get justice during our life time. Most of the pensioners are on the wrong side of 70 years and so urgent attention to solve our problems is needed.

We shall therefore be grateful to you if you will bring our letter to the notice of the honourable Prime minister under the PRAGATI platform.

Looking forward to your assistance in the matter which affects the lives of the pensioners.

    With kind regards,

    Yours sincerely,

    P.P.R.Upadhyaya.                                                        29.5.2015

  1. any amount of bereaucractic method will not solve the problem.Matter will go from pillar to pillar. I have an utmost faith that taking the matter to the general public through dharna by all the affected retirees in front of all offices of sbi until the problem is solved with placards reading the actual eligible and how much we are pad and for how many years. Capacity of the bank to pay the eligibility and not a paise increase with the aid of media is mthe solution for the problem.Retirees expecting correct pension should not have shyness or hypocracy to come to the open. dhanabalanaa90@gmail.com mobile 9445430928

  2. I honestly hope the prime minister handles this representation with the seriousness it deserves instead of routinely forwarding for disposal by the Finance ministry. We have to lobby with the Party in power to get justice.

  3. The prime minister is capable but will not. There must be a time limit by which the bereaucracy solve the legitimate problem Already he has been given time.
and he has chosen silence. I leave the choice to other learned colleagues

  4. Apart from my suggestion as no 1 in this blog I wish every affected 7th bipartite retiree must wear a badge around his neck when he is outside the house which will read somewhat like this or an improved one suggested by other members. I am poor retiree of the richest bank of the nation cheated by vested interests and being paid only 50% pension form date of retirement. Our crying is not heard by deaf ears…My PF NO SBI 0468509.Please sympathise. In groups we must visit media (tv and news paper offices and police commissioners office..

  5. Right from younger days as manager of a small branch in a small village I used to overhaul the system and make drastic changes. Before my taking over managers roo0m used to be closed and one had to take permission to enter his cabin. I changed the system anyone could see me any time. I had wonderful result. That branch created history by making all india record percentage ofincrease in deposits.E#ven now I being 76 in age only suggesting changes in the system when we are not in a position to reach the avowed goal of correct payment of for the past 18 years think of changing methodology in Gandhian method, Pray the almighty for best days to come.

  8. Sri Upadhyay Ji, Your letter to PM Sri Modi Ji and Ministry of Finance Sri Jaitely is on a correct path. But the bigger question is that What All India and State wise Pensioner Associations has became helpless to get fruitful results. SBI PENSIONERS are biggest looser comparing to other institutions. Even a Clerk of State Electricity Board are getting better pensions and retirement benefits. Moreover the Pensioners of SBI in maximum has became to idle and ill that they has thrown their life in the hand of God and dying daily with anxiety. One of my question was replied by our very senior friend Respected Saini ji that the VRS opted (Exit option) 2007 will not get Medical benefit due to Bank Policy of taking retirement before the age of 60. Although Bank is charging hefty 66,000 rupees to provide this Medical Pass Book scheme even then if the staff after the service of 35 or 38 years took VRS exit option like me is not entitled to get this Medical benfefit. Can you imagine the present Medical expenses for a senior citizen and without medical cover what his family are facing. This is very much ridicules that such type of major issue is being ignored and not being taken up by Association behind the curtain of rules. Rules are Made always to Change in future for the benefit of Mankind and not with the feelings to harasses and harm anyone. .

  10. 60th year package by sbi. Let us honestly think whether it is the intention to help the ailing pensioners above the age of 80 or a face saving device to hide the ill treatment to pensioners retired between 1997n and 2002.. Instead updation and family pension alone will nelp help them.I remember for the 10th year having refused to accept a pen from the management I trust the letter to PM has atleast been acknowledged.A.DHANABALAN

  12. These one time packages are an opiate. If the Bank really cares for it senior retirees it should agree for updation of pension and other reasonable demands of the pensioners>no point in hiding behind the Govt.See how RBI governor takes up the cause of its retirees.
