The art of survival in a coalition:

Some one said ‘BJP must learn from Congress the art of survival in a coalition’. Why BJP alone, several others, political parties in particular, have to learn from Congress as to how one can survive with awe-full odds and continue running the government, come what may. The only qualification for the requisite purpose is that one has to go by a slogan ‘beg, borrow, buy, or steal, but continue holding the reins some way or the other by any means fair or foul’. And this is exactly what the Congress is doing. Coalition era at the Central level actually worked well during the time Atal Bihari Vajpai took over as Prime Minister. Historically, he does have the credit of good governance despite an odd kind of coalition government he had to run. As against that, the way present UPA is working is an extreme contrast. It is some Karuna Nidhi or the other, they join or quit, it hardly matters for the present set up of the partners in the government. They have master strokes to apply with some manipulation or the other to secure entry of some partner to see to it that the alliance works well. There is no dearth of entry seekers to the government as that is after all a most tempting area. There is no wonder if with this sort of a monkey game, the present government with UPA in the saddle jolly well completes its term playing between Ayarams and Gayarams.

  1. SIR, I FULLY AGREE WITH YOU. THE PRESENT UPA GOVERNMENT HAS NO CHARACTER, NO PRINCIPLES, NO ETHICS, NO IDEOLOGY. THEY HAVE ONLY ONE POINT PROGRAMME …..TO REMAIN IN POWER BY HOOK OR CROOK, AND TO ACHIEVE THIS, AS YOU HAVE VERY RIGHTLY MENTIONED, THEY CAN GO TO ANY EXTENT.

  2. Sir the question of survival of coalition of political parties has no importance but the survival of India as a Nation is most important. You have very correctly appreciated Sri Atal Bihari Bajpai’s deft handling of the coalition government. In fact after Nehru ji and Indira ji Bajpai is the only leader of India who deserves the love and confidence from every nook and corner of the country. Now the political parties are acting like kabilas catering the needs of a particular section or class. There are so many political parties but worth for none. Below lines seems very much befitting on the said coalitions
Manzil juda juda hai, Maksad juda juda hai
Ek bheed to lagi hai ye karwan nahi hai
