Several decades after the death of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the same mystery surrounds the incident even as on date. Disposing off an individual petition, Allahabad High Court recently passed an order that necessary enquiry be ordered to take place to find out the truth behind the mystery. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, is taking the requisite measures to set up an enquiry appointing some retired High Court Judge for the purpose. The issue relates to the country as a whole and is not confined to U.P. alone, but any one any where in the country can take necessary initiative in the matter as it relates to a giant sized personality like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He was a legendary patriot and his death is obviously the matter of concern for all. There were several investigations in the past to find out the real cause of his death but till date the mystery remains unsolved. As I remember, certain decades back there was a mammoth gathering at Phool Bagh in Kanpur (U.P.,India) who were all impatient to get a glimpse of the leader as there was a rumour floated by the disciples of Baba Gurdev, head of a religious sect, that Netaji is alive and that he would address the crowd. After several hours of suspense, a man in advanced age with a long beard appeared on the dais followed by a section of the crowd crying with the slogan ‘Netaji Zindabad’. It took no time for the mammoth gathering to realise that it was some fake man posing himself as ‘Netaji’, and there was a volley of shoe throwing on his face and he ran for life. In the process, he was beaten mercilessly with fists and blows. What actually happened was that Baba Gurdev himself took a chance posing as Netaji with the hope that because it was a long gap of time since Netaji died, the people may really accept the game as a genuine reappearance of him. There is no dearth of cheaters playing non-sense in our country. Mystery continues and this shall be a great solace to millions of people when real cause of Netaji’s death is revealed to them.
