SBI–A brief chronology of Pension issue

Looks like the very issue of pension is counting its pendency order in a waste paper basket. A look on what is given below, being the information supplied to me by K.R. Saini by way of his comment on my relative blog post (the link is appended), shows how casually the pension issue has been taken at the Court’s level apparently for the reason that the issue was not followed up vigorously by the concerned channels:

“DEAR SHRI NEELKNTH JI,I FULLY AGREE WITH YOUR VIEWS.,NO MENTION HAS BEEN MADE IN THE OFFICIAL WEB -SITE OF SUPREME COURT THE REASON FOR THE DEFERMENT OF THE CASE AND ONLY MENTIONED”NEXT DATE OF LISTING 06-02-2013 ” THIS CASE HAS BEEN LISTED 9 TIMES AND ADJOURNMENTS HAS BEEN MADE FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS.NO BODY KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE DELHI HIGH COURT CASE WP(C)1931/2002 LISTED ON 10-01-2013.THIS CASE WAS FILED BY 7 PENSIONERS IN THE YEAR 2002 AND NOT DECIDED YET AFTER 10 YEARS. FROM THE COURT CASES IT APPEARS THAT JUSTICE DELAYED MEANS JUSTICE DENIED. K.R SAINI P.S THIS CASE IS LISTED 23 TIMES DURING , THE LAST 10 YEARS,AND FOUR PETIONERS HAD ALREADY DIED OUT OF SEVEN PETITIONERS. K. R SAINI”

The next date fixed up for the hearing in Supreme Court is actually 19th February’2013 and not 6/2/2013 as published earlier.

  1. Respected neelkanthji, the details given by Sh Saini are amazing, the case filed in the Delhi High Court in the Year 2002 is still pending for the decision, when four out of seven pensioners have already died, What an Indian judiciary/courts and the Govt. . What is the message for the employees who are working for the govt, ,after the retirement the govt will not do any thing for their futute, ,IT IS a bad news for the retirees. The T.V.channels must pickup this line and high light in the news , the facts before the public, the injustice with the old pensioners. Thanks mr saini for the hard work done by you. very good and thanks for the details.

    1. *The dismay and utter chagrin expressed by you are quite genuine. The media hardly bothers for the retirees of SBI. But what can be done by the pensioners themselves is to wide spread the internal communicational channels including generation of person to person awareness capable of creating a momentum. This may elicit the desired movement atleast to some extent. People like you and Saini are doing their best. I wish others too join you both more vigorously. Thanks for a note worthy comment.*

  2. REALLY MATTER OF SHAME AND IT ALSO SHOWS HOW BADLY THE PENSIONERS OF THIS COUNTRY ARE BEING TREATED BY ALL CONCERNS, WHETHER IT IS OUR GOVERNMENT OR THE JUDICIARY OF OUR COUNTRY. GREAT INJUSTICE BEING DONE TO PENSIONERS.

  3. SIR, I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE ONE SHOCKING THING WITH YOU. AFTER TAKING YOUR CONSENT, I SHARED YOUR BLOG “SBI PENSION CASE, A PERENNIAL DEFERMENT” DATED 10TH JANUARY 2013, WITH MY GROUP OF ‘SBI PENSIONERS COLLEAGUES’ ON FACE BOOK, HAVING MORE THAN 250 MEMBERS. SIR, YOU WON’T BELIEVE THAT OUT OF MORE THAN 100 MEMBERS WHO HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS BLOG, ONLY ONE MEMBER(OUT OF TWO COMMENTS) HAS COMMENTED STRONGLY SUGGESTING PENSIONERS ASSOCIATION TO STAGE A SILENT PROTEST OUTSIDE SUPREME COURT ON THE NEXT DATE OF HEARING. IT SEEMS, EVEN THE PENSIONERS HAVE LOST ALL INTEREST IN THE CASE.

    1. *You are quite correct in saying that even pensioners themselves are not that much interested for the simple reason that many of them are well settled otherwise in their life, but there are lot of the retirees who need the remedy. Let us fight for them atleast. I do admire your efforts with a missionary zeal. Even if there are people who are disinterested, or less interested, let us continue our efforts. My sincere thanks with good wishes. *

  4. Sir.. Extremely shameful and shocking too…. It is the real and ugly face of he system including judiciary… It reflects the change of mindset of people of the so called modern generation towards their fathers and elders.. Animalism seems to prevail.. I am fully agreed with the opinion of Shri V.K.Malhotra to stage a silent dharna before the Delhi High Court and ask for justice to those who are no more now…..I dont hesitate to say that necessary determination and conviction required towards the disposal of case is lacking sir……..

  5. sh V.k.malhotraji and shbndubeyji, yours views are correct and the pensioners are ready to stage a silent dharna before the high court but sir they all are above 70 + and the cold wave and the poor health of the pensioners does not allow them to sit on the dharna , sir I may add that we have already made a demonstration in parlliament street at Jater manter and there was a T.V.coverage also but due to govt pressure it could not aired or tele casted. sir thanks for your good advise

  6. It is a very surprising that judiciary has taken such a view in the matter of pensioners while there is a general opinion in public that there is judiciary only with which justice may be supposed,in present scenario of the country. In this very case the concern court has given its casual view like Govt. and respective executive, however I am not in favour of any DHARNA or DEMONSTRATION against the judiciary because if it is done it will create complecation. Therefore,in my view, this system of democracy should be beconfined upto the Govt. and departmental executives only.
