Anna Hazare’s movement:

Now that Anna Hazare and his team have launched their latest move against corruption by staging a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, every one every where in the country and outside, is looking at them with the hope that something tangible should come out at least now in their fight in the matter that is rampant at a large scale in the country. Baba Ramdeo has since fallen in line with Anna joining him and his team in the dharna. Baba Ramdeo, say many and also the people from media, is not playing his role more effectively as expected. His appears to be a lukewarm participation as something sans the required enthusiasm. The reasons for this could be many, but on the very face of the total scenario at Jantar Mantar, the fight for supremacy, as to who between him and Anna can be taken as the main crusader, appears to be the main cause. This forms a factor which may ultimately affect the whole movement adversely. The response from the people in general throughout the country too is too scarce as this time they have not turned up in any big measure to congregate at the site with a show of any remarkable strength, like they did on earlier occasions. The in-fighting within the cadre of the team itself is another reason, which is weakening the movement. Taken in totality, the currently available scenario on the movement, is not at all indicative of any better signs. The movement is certainly to gain momentum within next few days, say the members of Anna’s team, but chances of such an eventuality, as I fee, are quite bleak. It is a different matter that with Baba Ramdeo’s effective participation, the situation may improve. The possibility of what is currently visible on the very surface was already indicated by me much earlier in another blog post of mine, necessary link of which is given below for the perusal of the readers.

  1. The movement deserves a success

  2. Sir, the day Anna Hazare joined the indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar, the crowd was back to support him in stark contrast to the past four days when the attendance at the venue was very poor. Hardly 1000 to 1500 people were there to support team Anna for first 4 days. But on Sunday, the day Anna Hazare sat on fast, a crowd of more than 10,000 were present there to support and identify with the cause. People at large are with Anna Hazare and his movement for Jan Lokpal Bill, but most of his supporters are not happy with his team members, particularly with loose mouth and outspoken Shri Arvind Kejriwal, who always seems to pursue his own agenda. Moreover, as very rightly said by you, the infighting within the cadre of the team Anna itself is weakening the cause of this great movement. For LOKPAL to be a reality, Anna Hazare will have to set his house in order first.
